A bit about Pam and Trevor ThornIn the present situation of waiting for the appointment of a new Vicar, Pam is taking care of both St John’s, Waterbeach and All Saints’, Landbeach our neighbouring village just across the A10 to the West of Waterbeach. Trevor is a Lay Minister, Licensed to both parishes.
Trevor retired from full time work in 2007 and is now giving fundraising advice to Ely Cathedral, Great St Mary’s, the University church in Cambridge, Cambourne Church and a small retreat house on the Isle of Iona, a place we both love. We also love being as involved as we can with our eight grandchildren who are spread across Birmingham, Cambridgeshire, North London and Essex. We have been privileged to discover just what a joy grand-parenting can be: it’s even given Trevor a reason to write a collection of silly rhymes (!), some of which we sing with these delightful little people. Pam, at present has little time for anything other than parish work but if she had the time would undoubtedly occupy some of it doing quilt work and other kinds of needlework. She’d also like to spend more time exercising her considerable cooking skills (she was a Domestic Science –or is it now Residential Technology – teacher in the past). The picture here was taken in Assisi in 2005 in the courtyard of the amazing Basilica. It was our second visit to the City on a pilgrimage led by a Franciscan Friar. A few years previously, we’d visited on a gentle cycle tour – a magnificent stop in a delightful holiday-by-pedal-power around the Spoleto/ Assissi valley. |
